The Power Of Trust When Navigating Complex Change

I first met Tina over 20 years ago, and since then we’ve developed an incredibly long-standing and valuable partnership. She is, without a doubt, one of the best professionals I have had the privilege to work with.

Tina’s been a recurring presence at Aiimi throughout the last 5 years and supported a wide range of clients from Travelex to Rolls Royce.

Most recently, one of our clients required a rapid transformation in how they viewed and utilised data within their business which stemmed from both regulatory and cost-driven challenges. I knew Tina would be the ideal person to help us deliver the intended outcomes.

The client wanted to develop a data strategy embedded into the business as it was built, which was a great approach in theory. However, they were not effectively bringing the business along with them in that transformation.

We were brought in to develop their data strategy, and I needed someone who could manage stakeholders effectively – not only from our side but also within the client’s senior leadership team. These stakeholders had very high expectations, and it was critical to reset and manage those expectations while ensuring the program’s success.

I knew Tina’s capabilities well, and I was familiar with the key players at the client’s organisation. While we were always going to fulfill our contractual obligations, we also needed to ensure our client’s internal stakeholders were aligned and supported in achieving their goals, and Tina was a crucial part of this.

Building a Culture of Accountability and Integrity

Tina’s ability to instill trust, accountability, and enthusiasm across different levels of an organisation is remarkable, but she also takes ownership of outcomes and ensures buy-in from the team, which is essential for us.

She has an incredible ability to quickly and accurately assess people and situations, and excels at identifying risks, managing challenges, and tailoring her communication to different personalities which all contributes to fostering trust with stakeholders.

Rather than making knee-jerk decisions, Tina pieces together a series of strategic moves that lead to long-term success. Every action she takes is part of a larger picture, and she continuously aligns her work with the overall goals of the project.

I think a lot of the success is down to Tina’s willingness to lead by example. She establishes clear expectations for behavior and integrity, and consistently demonstrates those values in her work. When people work with Tina, they naturally adopt a high standard of professionalism. Those who don’t align with these values either adjust or naturally move away from the project.

To give an example, at one point Tina worked on a highly complex digital delivery solution for a real estate company. The initiative impacted multiple stakeholders, from the CEO down to frontline sales and lettings employees. Despite the large scale and complexity of the project, Tina ensured smooth delivery by fostering a sense of calm, confidence, and excitement across the business.
